I have been reading reviews at folica.com, trying to figure out which iron I want myself. I have narrowed it down to a sedu or solia, NOT a CHI!! The reviews say the quality is bad and they do not last, they break after a year or so! The reviews on a sedu or solia are excellent!

Go there and read the reviews.
i like the tool science one black and red they sell it at sallys and tis like $85
i think its not so much in the straightener, but in the product that you put in before and after...

but if you ARE looking for a good straightener out there, SURPRISINGLY, i own the Wet 2 Straight or whatever and it works soo well! I have really wavy frizzy crazy hair and i use it everyday. Also the ceramic-plated ones that they have at the mall or whatever, my sister has that one and her hair is stick straight every day! Don't be pressured to say no to a straightener because its plates are small. My small-plated straightener works wayy better than my wide-plated straightener

GOOD LUCK!

The definition of best is very subjective. It all depends on the amount of money you are willing to spend. Of the top ten best-selling hair straighteners, there are products by Solia, Sedu, HAI, Bion, Chi, and Hot Tools. But there are also straighteners by many other makers that may work just as well for you, and be less costly. Again, referring to the top ten best-selling straighteners, the prices range from around US $25.00 to over US $200.00, so price may certainly be a factor in what an individual would consider the best.

There are other factors that you have to consider in choosing a hair straightener. One of the first is the length of your hair. The longer your hair is, the larger the plates of your straightener need to be. Your straightener should be just wide enough to allow you to quickly heat the length of hair you have. For shorter lengths of hair, you want a narrower straightener. This allows you to have more control over the hair as you straighten it. (The size of your straightener will effect the cost.)

Another factor is the condition of your hair. Because these appliances use high heat, they can damage the hair, especially if the hair is already damaged or in poor condition. In this situation, you may want to select one of the straighteners designed to help smooth the cuticle layer. These models do tend to be more expensive, but many people really rave over the results they give.

The bottom line isnt so much what is the best straightener, but what is the best straightener for you. Youre going to need to make that determination for yourself based on your hairs length and condition, and your budget.
Whichever Straightener you get...you should use a product called FX Straighten Out. Its absolutely the best! You can get it at Walgreens, CVS, etc. You'll love it!
The stuff you buy from the salons themselves! Deffinately buy from oen of those professional stores!
hot tools ceramic ones are the best.
This will save you about $150.00 or more but unless you are very carful you can overprocess your hair and cause breakage by not checking your times. Doing a Strand Test correctly is a must! . . Back when I attended Cosmetology School to this day, the technique we used for hair straightening was Permanent Solution. If your hair is long and/thick then you will need more than one box. By taking the Perm Solution from a kit and applying it to dry hair and using a plastic comb, comb hair straight. Leave this on your hair up to 40 minutes. It will depend on the texture, condition and length of your hair. If your hair is over-processed and damaged, you may not want to attempt this. If you hair is thin and short, then of course it would not take as long. Everyone will need to do a strand test by taking a small section of your DRY hair and testing before you do all of you hair. Do NOT brush your hair before using the perm solution. You can carefully use a plastic comb to comb through your hair . After doing the strand test, When straightening your entire head, divide into 4 sections. You do this by parting your hair down the middle from the back to front, so you will have 2 ponytails. Put these into 2 plastic clips. Take one section and part that from the top of the ear across to the back of your head. Do the same with the other side. Secure with PLASTIC clips. You NEVER want to use metal on your hair when you will be using permanent solution. Starting at the back of the head, take down one section of dry hair, take the perm solution and saturate that section starting near the roots. Comb straight to the ends making sure that you evenly saturate each strand evenly by combing each strand from roots to the ends. You may want to ask someone for their help so you will be sure that each strand of hair is evenly saturated. Then do the other back section of your head working your way to the front. After you have your hair completely saturated with solution, take a strand of cotton and put it around the front sides, over your ears and under your head to keep solution from dripping. Take your plastic comb and comb your hair straight throughout your remaining minutes. After your time is up, you will rinse your hair under cool water until all of the solution is out of your hair. Apply the Neutralizer to your hair for 15- 20 minutes while over the sink. Then rinse your hair again. When you dry your hair straight section your hair from over the ear and put the remaining section over the top of your head to the other side for now. If your hair is long secure with a plastic clips. One that was NOT used in Permanent Solution. Take the remaining hair left from the ear down section and use your flat, paddle blush by going under your hair from the roots slowly pulling to the ends of your hair repeating until dry. Make sure your hair dryer is on a LOW warm setting and direct your dryer DOWN the hair. Do your hair in sections like this until the underneath of your hair is COMPLETELY hair. It CANNOT be damp at all. Then do the top layers. When your top layers are almost dry. Set your Hairdryer on the coolest setting and direct your dryer DOWN. This will cause your cuticle to lay flat and you'll have a sleek look. Please Note*** Do NOT wash or wet your hair again for at least 3 days.
the new blk paul mitchell straightner with lt. green plates! its good if u also use the super skinny shampoo and conditioner(which is sold together at any good salon for $25.00) and the straightning serum($16.00)(the serum helps blow drying time and helps to control the frizz!).
