CHI, it's a reallyyyyyy good straightner, i garuntee your hair will be straight practically all day. [=What is the best hair straightener for medium to thin hair?
Using a hair straightener works great ONLY IF you are using proper styling techniques and using good products in your hair to protect your strands from the extreme heat of the flat iron. Here's a step by step run down to help you hold your style for days.
1. Apply a serum or straightening gel to damp/towel dried hair. Comb through.
2. Round brush your hair with a natural boar-bristle brush. This will smooth out the hair shaft and pull/stretch the curl out of your hair, thus allowing for a smoother sleeker do!
3. Run the flat iron through small sections from mid-shaft to end.
4. Finish with a tiny amount of serum to seal the ends.

(great demos there too) Good Luck ;)
Your best bet is to go into your salon and ask your stylist for some idea's. This is usually how I find the products that work best for me. I have really thin fine hair and I am always looking for volume, the stylist sees all types of hair all day long everyday, and knows what works best for what types.
Good luck!
Since I prefer not to fry my hair, I use other methods. when I use the Suave brand hair gel with the maximum hold of eight while my hair is still slightly damp, then use a fine tooth comb and comb it straight down, I don't have any issues with it. Suave gel is also very inexpensive and effective way to get straighter hair.
that happens to me ALL THE TIME. the thing is you have to put something on your hair before you straighten it. i use Fructis. after showering, let your hair completely dry. then apply some on your hair, but not a lot. let it dry for a little and then straighten your hair. you can buy it at walmart.
