What is the best hair straightener for thick hair?

I am trying to find a good hair straightener for my girlfriend's long, thick, curl-less hair. She has a sucky one, and I want to surprise her.

i've used flat irons for about 10 years now and went through a bunch of them before i finally found the CHI global beauty straightener. i've had mine for about 5 years now, and i've only had to replace it once in all that time. it's amazing. the problem with a lot of flat irons is that they don't get hot enough but this one gets up to 370 F and makes your hair super flat and shiny. i love the CHI and recommend it to all my friends but if you don't end up getting it, at least make sure you get a straightener with ceramic plates. they work the best!What is the best hair straightener for thick hair?
She has my sympathy. I have huge curly thick poofy hair and my straightener is just from Target and The brand is nano silver by conair. It was like $70 but that is about the cheapest you will get one that actually works. I mean you can also buy the $150 ones from the salon, but this one works just as well. and since it is an ion straightener it will usually make your hair shinier. Hope this helps, i know what it is like to have thick hair. Everyone says it's great but sometimes it sucks.
I suggest GHD or CHI but you would jusst have to section your hair and it would work awesome! :]
