I also have thick and curly hair, what I find to work is Sunsilk Straight to Perfection. I use the shampoo, conditioner and straightening lotion. However, I find it works best if you shower a few hours before you go to bed, let it air dry for about an hour then use the lotion, and I sleep with my hair flattened between my head and the pillow, 9 times out of 10 I wake up with straight hair, use a small ceramic iron to smooth out the bits that didn't go right.
i don't know of an exact brand, but i have a straightener that has a little bit of a curve to it, and i love it.
